Social Networks and the Power of Their Traffic | Social Networking ...

The popularity of social networking sites is soaring high these days. Millions of Internet users from teenagers to executives ? have at least one or two social networking accounts, and they enjoy keeping them.

Social networking has many facets. For one, it works mainly as a way to gain friends and interact with other people. Your social networking account its text contents, its design and lay-out, and the people who belong to your network reflects who you are and the things that you love to do.

There are social networking sites that are established for a particular function some just to form a circle of friends, some to share files over the Internet, and some to expand professional and business contacts.

Mainstream networking sites like MySpace, Hi5, or Friendster are generally used for the purpose of expanding a network of friends and acquaintances from all over the world. Most people, especially teenagers, are hyped over these sites mainly because they want to gather as many friends as they can.

There are other social networking websites that allow a group of people to gather together for a common interest. Those who love to write, for example, can join social networks in blogging sites such as Blogger and WordPress. Popularity websites like Digg and del.icio.us allow a user to submit some recommended contents from other websites and share and discuss them with other site members.

Those who are into music and video usually join social network sites that allow sharing of digital files through P2P software, such as Bearshare, which connects a user to other people who use the same software. Web-based file-sharing networks like YouTube and Multiply are also popular. You can put up your personal profile into these social networks so you can tell other members about yourself and your preferences in music and video.

Now that you know how social networks can help you, let me give you a list of reasons why its good to be sucked into social networking

Free access. Social networking sites allow you to register an account for free. Some sites might offer advanced features with minimum pay.

Easy connect. Through social networking sites, you can keep in touch with your friends and to the rest of the world with just a few clicks.

Information haven. Most social networking sites allow you to store text, music, or video files that you can share with the members of your network. Users can also bookmark certain websites and share it with other people in the network through social bookmarking communities.

Advertise, sell, profit. If youre into business and youre not up to spending so much effort designing a website, you can use any social networking site to promote the products and services that you offer.

Social networking might sound bum and fad to some, but millions of people enjoy being able to make friends (and financial profit too!) over the Internet. Not being a member of at least one online social network means missing half of your life. And that sounds quite sad, right?
